Haiti recovering five years after devastating earthquake

It was the largest Red Cross response ever to a single country. The Red Cross helped one in two Haitians, about five million people. After the 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti in 2010, individual Canadians and governments generously donated $222 million to the Canadian Red Cross to support the tremendous emergency and recovery efforts.

Help those in need this holiday season – give the gift of food, warmth and comfort

As December is upon us and we prepare to enjoy the holiday season with family and friends, sharing gifts, traditions and special moments with loved ones, and reflecting on the year that has passed, we also want to invite Canadians to help us bring warmth and comfort to people who are not as fortunate in communities across the country.

Help provide warmth to those in need by purchasing TOMS apparel at Target

This holiday season, Target customers can share in the spirit of giving by purchasing items included in a limited-edition collaboration with TOMS.  Every purchase will provide a blanket, meals or shoes to those in need by matching your purchases with donations.

Red Cross Cookie Monsters – we want to hear from you!

The communications team at the Canadian Red Cross in Ontario has been tasked with hosting a bake sale next week at our headquarters in Mississauga. Help me choose which cookies to bake to ensure a successful bake sale.

3 ways to help after a disaster

We've all seen or experienced disasters; there seems to be more and more of them every year. In those situations, I'm always wondering what I can do to help. Whether you are near the disaster or far from the actual damage, here are three ways you can make a difference:

Supporting families in need day at Walmart Canada

See pictures of Walmart Canada's Supporting Families in Need Day on Saturday (June 28th) which took place in Walmart stores across Canada in celebration of 20 years in the country. Walmart Canada held the day to thank its customers for helping to raise money for its charities, including the Canadian Red Cross.

Volunteer Rose Thompson wears many hats, including at times, a party hat

Rose Thompson, a volunteer with the London branch, knows how to throw a party. Last summer, the White Oaks Walmart store in London exceeded its Red Cross fundraising goal, due in large part, to Rose’s efforts.

Photo of the Day: John Gallin and his pockets full of change

Since the beginning of the year John Gallin has visited his local Red Cross branch in London, Ontario to donate his pocket change. Inspired during a first aid course, John decided his goal was to visit the branch every week to make his donation. In the past 12 months John has surpassed his goal of $100 and has donated almost $600 with a few weeks left still!
