Connecting to a cause: Robert Whitelaw and the Strength and Spirit Campaign

The goal of the Strength and Spirit campaign may have been to build strength and resilience in First Nations communities, but what it also uncovered was one man’s passion and commitment to the region he grew up in. Robert Whitelaw, better known as Bob, was a family man who put great emphasis on building strong relationships. This ultimately became his legacy and it was all prompted by the Canadian Red Cross Strength and Spirit Campaign.

We're celebrating March is Red Cross Month

Did you know the month of March is proclaimed as Red Cross Month? Every year, the Canadian Red Cross observes Red Cross month in March and honours the efforts undertaken by the Red Cross Movement to fulfill the humanitarian mission of the organization as a whole.

Help those in need this holiday season – give the gift of food, warmth and comfort

As December is upon us and we prepare to enjoy the holiday season with family and friends, sharing gifts, traditions and special moments with loved ones, and reflecting on the year that has passed, we also want to invite Canadians to help us bring warmth and comfort to people who are not as fortunate in communities across the country.

When the Ebola virus first hit Guinea two months ago, many people didn’t realize it was the deadly haemorrhagic fever. Saa Sabas, from Guinea, was caring for his sick parent when he contracted the virus, but managed to beat it. Now, along with the Red Cross Society of Guinea, Saa Sabas works to raise awareness of how to prevent the spread of the disease, to allay some of the fear and rumours, as well as to combat the ignorance about this dangerous disease.

Tech Talk: Making it easy for Ontarians to access community support

A recent addition to the Canadian Red Cross website now makes it easier for people in Ontario to locate community support services in their area. A new listings directory enhances the experience for visitors to the site who are looking for Red Cross support services such as nutritional assistance through Meals on Wheels or rides to and from medical appointments.
